Thanks to our many parents and volunteers, the first Weatherbee enrichment day was a success. Third graders participated in a series of Maine Indian studies from review of artifacts offered by the Hudson Museum to American Indian dance with George Neptune of the Abbe Museum. Grade four students took to the baseball field to work on team building with Husson athletes and district health coordinator, Brittany Layman. Communication skills were paramount. In fifth grade, students questioned volunteers who joined us for career day! They asked great questions of: a psychologist, a cosmetologist, a police officer in public schools (school resource officer), dairy farmer, computer repair person, and transportation director. The parent volunteers in each career day room and the presenters shared that Weatherbee students had fun and learned a lot!
Students were pleased with the success of enrichment day. If we continue to be able to get the great volunteer turn out we had on this first day, there will be a series of enrichment days throughout this school year!
